Wasaga Beach · Municipal Election 2026
How to vote
Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026. You can vote in person on Election Day, at one of three advance polls, or online from October 1 to 26.
New for 2026
You can vote online — anywhere, anytime
Online voting opens Thursday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. and closes Monday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m.
You don't need to come to a polling station. You don't need to take time off work. You don't need to find childcare. Most residents don't know this option exists — make sure you do.

What you'll vote for
Your ballot has eight choices for Town Council and one yes/no question.
- 1 Mayor
- 1 Deputy Mayor
- 5 Councillors
- 1 School Board Trustee
The ballot question
You'll also be asked: "Are you in favour of moving to a ward system? Yes or No." Wasaga currently elects councillors at-large — every voter votes for every councillor. A "yes" majority would split the town into wards, with each councillor representing one specific area.
Who can vote
You can vote in the Wasaga Beach municipal election if, on Election Day, you are:
- A Canadian citizen, and
- At least 18 years old, and
- A resident of Wasaga Beach OR the owner or tenant of property in Wasaga Beach (or the spouse of an owner or tenant), and
- Not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act.
Cottagers and seasonal residents — yes, you can vote here
If you own or rent property in Wasaga Beach but live somewhere else most of the year, you're a non-resident elector and you can vote in this election. You can also vote where you live full-time — those are two separate elections, and you're entitled to a ballot in each.
This is true of cottagers, secondary-home owners, and renters who keep a place in Wasaga for part of the year. The Town's voters' list often misses non-residents — check your registration before October.
Students
If you're a student living away from home for school, you can vote in both municipalities — the one you attend school in, and your home municipality.
